Thanks, Nita Wall, for this parade picture.....and all the others you've shared. The Monroe Parades were such a part of our lives growing up, never to be missed! Am sure I was somewhere along the route waving.....
Just have to ask....isn't that YOU, the Homecoming Queen 1955?? Please let us know.. and also, who is the cool-looking guy with the hat, driving the convertible?
I know I should keep my mouth shut about this one, but…
I’m in this picture - second from left - leaning against the post.
Oh, I remember that day, well. Mom insisted (demanded) I button the collar-button on my shirt. "You'll catch a cold!"
“No way! I'm going on eleven. Trust me, I don't mind a cold! I do NOT need to look UNcool here, Mom.” And, had she not been standing right beside me - guess what? Yes, that's her in the scarf and the one next to her is a neighbor lady (also wearing a scarf).
Don’t overlook my jeans. Mom always bought those a yard long so I could “grow into ‘em.”
Thinking back – I may have invented the “nerd look” !!!
Jim
PS: To Mary Eda, I had no clue that car had a driver until you called my attention to it.
PS: To Nita, Thanks for all the pictures – especially that picture – priceless!
